The Phanthom Hood
The Phanthom is a chopped, flip-front welding hood with a compact profile built for field work. It features a reduced shell design that cuts weight and bulk without sacrificing coverage where it matters.
The top of the hood is fitted with a riveted leather bib that blocks light and spatter from above. The shell is US-made thermoplastic — lightweight, durable, and built to take daily abuse on the job.
It runs a standard 2x4 lens opening and is compatible with both passive and auto-darkening lenses.

How It Works

Flip-front design.
The lens flips up and locks so you can inspect your weld, grind, or set up your next joint without pulling the hood off your head. Flip down when you're ready to strike.

Standard 2x4 lens opening.
The Phanthom accepts any standard 2" × 4" welding lens — passive or auto-darkening. No proprietary lens sizes. Use whatever shade or brand you already run.

Quick lens swap.
Lenses slide in and out in seconds. Switching from a passive shade to an auto-dark insert (or swapping a cracked cover lens) takes no tools and no downtime.

Adjust and go.
The headgear adjusts to fit your head with or without a cap underneath. Set the tension once, and it holds. The hood stays where you put it — up or down.
What Makes It Different
Chopped for Clearance
The shell is cut down to reduce bulk and give you clearance in tight spots — pipe racks, corners, confined spaces. Less hood in the way means less contorting to get to the joint.
Balanced After the Chop
Cutting material off the front changes where the weight sits. The Phanthom is balanced so the weight distributes across your head — not pulling you forward by hour 8.
Standard 2x4 Lens
Uses standard 2x4 lenses — the same as stock Hobarts. Use the lenses you already have, replace them anywhere, and swap between passive and auto-dark whenever you want.
Built for Pressure
US-made thermoplastic shell with a riveted leather bib on top. Handles drops, heat, and spatter. This hood was made for the field, not a display shelf.

Really solid welding hood, yet very light. Leather is thick and firm. Great packaging and arrived ahead of schedule. Looking forward to it.

Very light and comfortable! I like the lense retainer clip night and day over the HSLII
Good quality it’s definitely lighter than my og sugar scoop the lense slot isn’t big enough to run a controllable auto darkening lense but other than that it’s a very nice hood
The welding hood it’s self it nice and the paint job is great. The only thing that could be improved is the head gear ratcheting system. I’m replacing it with a Honeywell ratcheting head gear.
