The Tiger Scoop

The Tiger Scoop is a leather-wrapped, flip-front welding hood built on a Tigerhood-style visor band with riveted leather bibs covering both the top and the throat. The rigid shell stays where it's needed — around the lens, the flip mechanism, and the headgear mount. Everything else is leather.
The result is a hood that moves with you instead of against you. The leather throat bib contours to your chest and neck naturally — no rigid shell pushing into your sternum when you look down, no catching on pipe or steel when you shift position. Coverage stays. Bulk doesn't.

It runs a standard 2x4 lens opening and is compatible with both passive and auto-darkening lenses.

How It Works

Flip-front design.
The lens flips up and locks so you can inspect your weld, grind, or set your next joint without pulling the hood off your head. Flip down when you're ready to strike.

Standard 2x4 lens opening.
The Tiger Scoop accepts any standard 2" × 4" welding lens — passive or auto-darkening. No proprietary lens sizes. Use whatever shade or brand you already run.

Quick lens swap.
Lenses slide in and out in seconds. Switching from a passive shade to an auto-dark insert (or swapping a cracked cover lens) takes no tools and no downtime.

Adjust and go.
The headgear adjusts to fit your head with or without a cap underneath. Set the tension once, and it holds. The hood stays where you put it — up or down.

The leather throat bib sits where a rigid shell used to be — covering the same area without the stiffness. It contours to your chest and neck instead of pushing against it. When you look down, it folds with you. When you shift position, it doesn't catch. Full throat and neck coverage, zero chest contact fight.

The rigid shell is only where it needs to be — around the lens holder, flip mechanism, and headgear mount. Everything above and below is riveted leather replacing thermoplastic you were carrying for no reason. Less rigid material means less weight sitting where it fights you.

Uses standard 2x4 lenses — the same as stock Hobarts. Use the lenses you already have, replace them anywhere, and swap between passive and auto-dark whenever you want.
