REPCO USA Phantom Series

Every hood fails eventually. Nobody’s handed you one that doesn’t.

Your last hood failed on you. This one won’t.

The flip-up swinging open mid-2G. The pinhole you find a week later. The headgear knob you’ve been tightening since month two. This hood doesn’t do any of that — because the exact things that make other hoods fail are what this one was built around.

The argument

Three ways a hood fails. This one doesn’t do any of them.

01 / FLIP-UP

The flip-up stays put.

The swing-open mid-pass is how most hoods die. This one is reinforced and properly tensioned — set it where you want it and it stays there, weld after weld, overhead or flat.

02 / HEADGEAR

The headgear holds tension.

If you’ve been re-tightening the knob since month two, that’s the gear failing while you work. This headgear is built to hold its tension — set it once in the morning, with or without a cap, and leave it alone.

03 / SHELL

The shell doesn’t leak light.

The pinhole you find a week after the flash comes from a thin shell. This one is a premium-grade shell made in the USA — not “assembled in USA from imported parts.” Real thickness is the whole reason light stays out.

The evidence

The failure catalogue.

Left, what you’ve had happen. Right, the part of this hood that answers it. No claims you can’t check against the one on your bench.

One more thing

A hood that holds is only half of it.

Reliability was never one part. It’s the whole setup — the hood, the lens that goes in it, and what’s on your hands when the spatter comes down. A hood that holds deserves a lens that goes with it. So we put the three together.

  • 01The Phantom Pro. The harder-shift build — which is why the kit is Pro only.
  • 02A lens, in it. Picked to go with the hood, not sourced separately.
  • 03The gloves are on us. Free with the kit.

Starts at $219.99

See the kit → Everything — lens choice, sizes, colorways — is on the next page.

Put it on in the morning. Take it off at the end of the day. Somewhere in between, you stop noticing it’s there. That’s the whole point.
